Awareness Program on Prevention of Drug Abuse, Alcohol Addiction & Smoking
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology, KGF, organized an Awareness Rally on 20th August 2025 to highlight the harmful effects of drug abuse, alcohol consumption, and smoking.
The rally was inaugurated at Five Lights, Oorgaum by: Dr. Syed Ariff (Principal, Dr.TTIT), Dr. H. G. Shenoy (Vice Principal, Dr.TTIT), Dr. Geetha C. Megharaj (HOD, CSE) and Shri Krishnamurthy (Circle Inspector, Oorgaum Police Station)
In his address, Dr. H. G. Shenoy stressed the importance of educating youth on the consequences of substance abuse.
The rally, with students and faculty carrying placards and raising slogans, passed through Oorgaum and concluded at Surajmulla Circle. Students delivered impactful speeches and performed a skit, creating strong awareness among the community. The program ended with a Pledge led by Dr. Geetha C. Megharaj, reaffirming our commitment to a drug-free and healthy society.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and the local community. Special thanks to Dr. Kharmegam S., Prof. Sharmila, and Prof. Mercy Flora for coordinating the rally.
