Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology (Formerly Known as Golden Valley Institute of Technology - GVIT) was started in the year 1986 at Kolar Gold Fields by Dr. T. Thimmaiah, Ph.D (London), IAS (Retired), as the founder President under the aegis of Golden Valley Educational Trust, with the sole purpose of imparting quality technical education.

Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) - Belagavi, Karnataka and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) - New Delhi, and at present offers Degree Courses in Engineering as given below.
To produce technically competent engineers having innovative skills positive attitude, leadership and professional ethics, with a focus on developing sustainable and new technology.

Management Profile

Late Dr. T. Thimmaiah, Ph. D

Late Dr. T. Thimmaiah, Ph. D (London), was the chairman of the Southern Regional Council for Technical Education for six years and was instrumental in granting permission to start new polytechnics and engineering colleges in the southern states. He was the Vice President of ISTE for two terms and was the Director of School of Mines, K.G.F. He was also the Director Board of Governors, Regional Engineering College, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh. He served as the member of the Advisory Committee of Regional Engineering College, Calicut, and Kerala. He was a member of the Joint Board of Mining Education, New Delhi, Dr. T. Thimmaiah was the (Member Director of the Board of Management of BGML at K.G.F.).

He was responsible for thedevelopment of in-house expertise in Mining Management. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Shimoga District and as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Govt. of Karnataka. As the Chairman and Director, he was responsible for the rapid all-round development of Mysore Minerals Limited. He was also the Managing Director of Karnataka Dairy Development Corporation, and during his tenure, he established Mother Dairy to supply milk for the entire Bangalore City. A lesser-known fact about Dr. T. Thimmaiah was that he was a good cricket player and had represented the state of Mysore in Ranji Trophy and played against visiting teams viz., M.C.C. West Indies, Australia, and Sri Lanka. He had attended the World Reunion of 50 years passing of graduates at University College of London. He was the author of the book "Coal Resources of India".

Dr. T. Thimmaiah was a Freedom Fighter and his entire freedom fighter pension had been earmarked to grant scholarships annually to poor and meritorious rural students of institutions belong to GVET.

Before his demise, he was bestowed with the prestigiousPriyadarshini Indira Gandhi achievement Award 2011 for the year 2010 for his outstanding contribution in thefield of education by International Peace & Integrity Society.
Dr. T. Venkat Vardhan

Dr. T. Venkat Vardhan is the Managing Director of India’s No.1 Events Company, DNA Entertainment Networks Private Limited which is headquartered in Bangalore. Born and educated between Kolar Gold Fields and Bangalore, a mechanical engineer from UVCE, he is responsible for single-handedly redefining and landscaping presentation of Mega Live Entertainment and Sports Events in India. Since its inception for well over two decades, DNA Networks has remained a formidable force in the Asian market. The eloquent milestones that have been achieved and steadily crossed is made possible through continuous production of events that have a unique appeal to live audiences, immaculate production values for delivery and strong calculable results to its corporate partners.

With branches in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and most recently Kolkata T. Venkat Vardhan successfully pursues his vision of bringing Live International Entertainment to India and its diversified audiences. He has tirelessly worked towards making DNA Networks into the No. 1 International Events Company in India and continues to do the same till date. He continues to play a highly important role at both national & international levels by harmonizing Live Media, Live Entertainment and Television into one of the most effective marketing tools for corporate brands. He leads a highly versatile, yet dedicated and dynamic team of professionals at DNA Networks who have collectively redefined events, logistics, production and promoting International Music, Sports and several unique corporate events.

His success mantra is to develop innovative ideas that bring value to the brand, not just through mass media & PR, but to actually implement customer interface. Despite changing landscapes in the industry, he has managed to keep DNA Networks abreast & ahead of all the challenges an events company could face. The intent was to provide an opportunity to develop and promote events on a large scale in India. Mr. Venkat was nominated as the President of Event Management Association of India for 3 years, under the aegis of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). An avid sportsman, he has played Shuttle Badminton at the State & National levels. He was the State Champion of Karnataka in 1980. Presently he is a keen & avid golfer. He also serves as the President of the Golden Valley Education trust which imparts education to over 5000 students living in the rural district of Kolar, Karnataka. In February 2015, he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contributions in the fields of Event Management & Live Entertainment by the University of Jerusalem. It can be said with confidence that he is the biggest draw in India in the field of events. He has over the last 2 decades played a colossal role in expanding the potential of the Indian market for International and domestic entertainment events, and has brought India on to the world map with innumerable high profile events such as the Brian Adams, Shaggy, Enrique, Sting, Dire Straits and many more. He is a pioneer in the field of Event Marketing and Production

Having put Bangalore on the world’s music map, Mr. Venkat began his journey in event management with the legendary concert Europe in 1988, which was the first of its kind in the late 80’s in India. It witnessed a record 60,000 fans at the concert. With economic liberalization in the 90s, Venkat with DNA proved his credentials with the sell- out Bryan Adams concert at the Brabourne Stadium in 1994, followed by Yanni at the Taj in 1997. This propelled him into the global league of concert organisers. Since then, DNA Networks has not just handled rock stars but also high profile VIPs like the Ex- President of the USA, Bill Clinton, the Prime Minister of India and Chief Ministers of various states.

Venkat as he is fondly called by his friends and associates, started his career in Advertising at an early age. His desire to carve a niche in promotions urged him to develop Event Management as his forte, a field that was relatively new in the 1980s. However, with his unending commitment he was able to evolve strategies and events that caught the attention of prominent clients in India like PepsiCo India, The UB Group, Britannia Industries Ltd, United Spirits- Diageo, Honeywell, HP, Bosch, Reliance Industries, Samsung, Thomson Reuters, Microland, AD Club, Milk Route, Louis Philippe, Manipal Hospitals, Canara Bank among others who engage the production and marketing services of DNA Networks.

The foray into ‘Sportainment’ propelled DNA Networks into a whole new field of event management services. As an avid sportsman, he played Shuttle Badminton at the University, State and National levels and was also the Karnataka State Champion in 1980. Also an avid golfer, the foray into managing sports events and entertainment in sports. The affiliation with sports goes back to more than a decade and it started with the Cricket World Cup Tour in ’99. He has ensured that we serve as the preferred partner of BCCI and various IPL franchises for their match entertainment needs over the years. He provides and ideates the unique mix of specialization in Events and live entertainment management while understanding the specific needs of sports. Extensive work across different tournaments for different clients has allowed Venkat and his team to provide services to the BCCI, ICC, IPL, ISL, PKL, HIL & IBL, making DNA Networks one of the most sought after event management company in South- East Asia.
Dr. Syed Ariff

Dr. Syed Ariff obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Mysore University and secured 9th Rank. He obtained hisMaster's Degree and Doctoral Degree from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore.

He holds the acclaimed Membership of the Executive council alongside being the Member of theBoard of Studies and Member of Board of Examiner and Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) in Visvesvaraya Technological University.

He has guided several undergraduate and postgraduate students.He has to his credit many technical publications in the National and International journals and conferences.

He is a member of many prestigious professional bodies like the Institute of Engineers (India) & Indian Society for Technical Education. He has worked in different capacities before assuming the post as Principal.

Teaching Process
1. Planning

Detailed lesson plans are prepared before the start of a semester.

2. Implementation

Implementation of the teaching process is recorded in a Teaching Diary on a day-to-day basis.

3. Review

Aweekly review is held at the department level to monitor the progress of the syllabus coverage and if any problems are observed, immediate corrective actions are initiated.

4. Feedback

Feedback obtained from the students at the end of a semester is used to determine a composite Faculty Competence Index (FCI) for every staff member. The FCI measures the performance of a staff member along the dimensions of educational effectiveness, discipline, and attitude. This index, as well as raw feedback data if required, is utilized to plan improvements in the efficiency of the staff members.

5. Survey

At the end of an academic year, a comprehensive Student Satisfaction Survey is conducted on a sampling basis to identify and prioritize the performance gaps that need to be addressed. The survey covers all aspects of the functioning of the Institute and includes issues like Instructional Effectiveness of the departments, Quality of Central Facilities like the Library and Internet, Support from various functional units like the Examination div, Administrative div, Adequacy of Infrastructure Facilities like Parking Space, Canteen, etc. A committee analyses this data to prepare the action plan for improving the quality of the services provided to the students.

Lush green campus, spread over 33,000 sq.mt of land, built with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, that includes Multiple Classroom Blocks, Well Equipped Laboratories, Student Centre & Amphitheatre, Learning Centre with a Digital Library, Track & Field for Athletics and Football,Cricket Field, Badminton Court, Fully Equipped Gymnasium and 4 Hostel blocks to accommodate the students and Faculty.
